Assistive Technology (AT)

EISD considers assistive technology devices and/or services for every student with a disability during the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Assistive technology devices are any item, piece of equipment, or product system whether purchased, modified, or customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability. Assistive technology service assists a student with a disability in choosing, acquiring and learning to use an assistive technology device. When there is a concern regarding the selection of a device, an Assistive Technology (AT) evaluation may be requested at an Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meeting.
